ANTVILLE LODGE NEW CHAPEL GARDEN

The Grantville Lodge New Chapel Garden is complete. As a result, we have a whole new beautiful space for our guests to enjoy.

Recently, Grantville Lodge’s Local Campsite Committee (LCC), a group of volunteers, has been working hard on designing a new, low maintenance, native garden for the onsite Chapel.

The Chapel is regularly enjoyed by the diverse range of groups that visit Grantville Lodge. It is a beautiful building that was moved to this site from a local town called Yallock near Bayles. At that time Grantville Lodge was known as “Shiloh Ranch’. The chapel was used as a school, town hall and church in the Yallock community. It has still has the original pews with plaques dedicated to families from Yallock dating back to the 1960’s. Sadly this town no longer exists.

Once the garden design was finalised, a working bee was held on the 16th September 2017. Staff and volunteers had a great turn out on the day and Victoria’s weather was kind to us with a small amount of rain but bursts of sunshine. Geoff Trease received funds kindly donated to assist Geoff to source suitable native plants for the project from the ‘Presbytery Open Day’ in 2016. Since we have also received a kind donation of $500 from the Korumburra Op Shop that will be used to purchase seating and a bird bath. Therefore, as a result of this generosity, we have a beautiful space to share with others.

Subsequently, our Site Manager, Bel Quick would like to acknowledge and thank all those who contributed to making this project happen. Grantville Lodge has already had many groups enjoy the new area and a noticeable increase in native birds.
