This week the Commission for Mission Camping Committee (CFM CC) agreed to make a further ongoing commitment to support the Outdoor Youth Programs Research Alliance (OYPRA) The OYPRA is an Australian group founded in 2009 with the aim of establishing quality evidence of the extent to which outdoor, camping and nature-based programs are associated with reliable improvements in resilience, learning and wellbeing among young people. The team includes representatives from the outdoor industry, the health research sector, government bodies, and non-profit community organisations.
The goal of the research Alliance is to develop a long-term program of high quality research that evaluates the potential benefits of outdoor, camping and nature-based programs on the resilience, learning and wellbeing of young Australians.
UCC has been part of the alliance and has made a small financial contribution for several years.
The recent decision by the CFM CC to allocate $30,000 over the next five years to support this vital research effort is yet another indicator of the commitment UC Camping has to industry development and collaborative sector initiatives.
